Calaba Town Church Project

jan_calabaSince 2003 we have collected and sent out to the congregation in Calaba Town something in excess of £10,000. The walls of the new church are up, but the roof has not been started. The latest estimate for the roof is £4,000. The amount I have in the account now is £2,023.

The fact that Rev. Joseph Bangura is at the moment studying in Paris complicates things a little. Nevertheless I am keen to make plans now to raise at least a further £2,000. The most recent substantial donation, the one that took us over the £2,000 mark, was from the Young Church – related to their starring appearances in the Link Group Concert.

That show was such a success that I am looking to recruit the entire cast (grown-ups too) for a re-run musical evening in aid of Calaba Town. Also I am told that the Beetle Drive was so good it needs repeated. So watch out for events to swell the building fund for St Columba Church Calaba Town; and/or contact me if you have ideas. Of course, individual ‘bricks’ are still available at £5 each.

Regarding the separate ‘Martha & Joseph’ fund I mentioned in the February ‘Contact’ I have received sufficient donations to allow me to send £210 to Martha – which will pay almost half of her house rent for the next year.

Thank you for your continuing support, encouragement, and prayer for this project.
