Burning Issues

The Burning Issues Group was started in St Columba Church to address issues not normally covered by other groups. Anyone from any Church who is interested in joining in our occasional meetings would be most welcome

New members are always welcome. The first project undertaken by the Burning Issues Group, the Helensburgh Child Contact Centre, has at last reached fruition and is now open.

As a new project, the group is now considering the possibility of setting up a scheme to give advice to local people who are struggling to manage their finances or who may be in debt. We would be delighted to hear from anyone in the congregation who feels they have some ability/expertise in this area and who would like to join us in exploring this possibility.

Eco-Congregation

This is the topic Burning Issues have decided to look at this year .The Eco-Congregation Programme in Scotland challenges us in the following way:

To call upon our Congregation and our Minister to take up this initiative for the practical care of God’s creation.

To seek to make a difference in our worship, in how we use buildings, resources and wastes, in how we travel, in how we serve our community and join with others to renew the earth.

If you would like to join the Burning Issues group please contact Elisabeth Sammon or come to any meeting advertised in the intimations or Contact.
