THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – 23rd. August 2009 – Helen Caldwell
Ecclesiastes Ch. 3 v1
“Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.”
A few weeks ago I was watching “Songs of Praise” on the BBC and one of the guests was Chris de Burg, singing “There is a Season”. This song brought to mind the above noted verse from Ecclesiastes and also reminded me of the well-known phrase “what is for you won’t go past you.”
I have always felt that God had a plan for my life, not always one with which I was happy at the time. However nothing in this life stays the same for ever and to, probably, misquote Maria in “The Sound of Music” when God closes a door, He always opens a window.
Situations do change, people come into and go out of your life and really what is important is how you cope with the hand that life deals you.
With the support of loving family and close friends, you need to move forward and remember the plan God has for you and that He is with you always.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for Your presence in our lives and for the love given and returned to those whom we love and who love us. Amen.
