“If you were to wind the clock back, would you choose a different course in life?”
How many times has that question been posed?
A woman, going about her housework, answered the doorbell to find a man, a little down on his luck, standing on the doorstep. He said he was hungry and wondered if there was some food to spare. Instead of sending him packing, or taking the easy option of giving him some money, she invited him in, made him a sandwich and cup of tea and sat down to share some food and enjoy a chat with him. As he left, he glanced back from the garden gate giving a smile and a wave; leaving, feeling that life had treated him a little better, albeit for a brief moment in time.
Passing time with him was a caring thing to have done by a caring person. Her caring and kind nature was further reflected in her profession: she was a nurse. In addition to her looking forward to going to work each day the patients felt greater comfort whenever she was on duty. Was any or all of this choice, coincidence or predestined? Perhaps this is something we should reflect upon when we feel a little frustrated with our surroundings?
Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have which, once you have it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known.

Lord, help us to appreciate the many blessings you have given us to lead our daily lives. May we use them to the best of our abilities that others, through us, may share the joy of Your presence.
Amen
